Fasting involves controlling what we say and do, along with our stomachs. It is normal to feel irritable or down when fasting for biological reasons. Being aware of these feelings will help us control ourselves. Self awareness is important for psychological well-being because it prevents us from acting in ways that we may regret. Self-control is a trait of mature and emotionally healthy people.
The Muslim ummah is facing multiple challenges in living peacefully. The most dominating challenges for the community is internal disunity and response to anti-Islamic ideological war. In the grip of mixed emotions of love (for Islam) and anger, we forget the sunnah of behaving with a vision in adverse situations. The character our Prophet (sallelahu alaihi wasallam) gives us a good lesson to encounter our both internal and external challenges...from a glimpse from the seerah.
