Sending Money overseas for Udhiya Sacrifice

I hope you can clarify something regarding animal sacrifice. I understand Mufti Asin distributed a flyer today regarding animal sacrifice. He said if we send money overseas for udhiya sacrifice, it's considered as sadaqah – charity. He said we have to do the sacrifice locally and keep one third share for it to be considered a true sacrifice for the intention of Eid ul-Adha.

What the mufti opined is what is preferable; however there is no evidence to nullify money sent overseas for sacrifice and transform it into sadaqah.
