The verse: "And to Allah prostrates whoever is within the heavens and the earth, willingly or by compulsion, and their shadows [as well] in the mornings and the afternoons."
It's understandable how the believers prostrate to Allah willingly, but who prostrates to Allah unwillingly (by compulsion)? How?
The scholars of Tafseer mention that the meaning of prostration mentioned in this verse is the linguistic meaning, and that is "to submit to, to yield to, to be subject to, etc." And so those who submit to Allah willingly are the believers who submit to that which Allah wants them to submit to. As for those who submit to Allah unwillingly (by compulsion), they are the disbelievers who submit to that which Allah made them submit to (i.e., the laws of creation as governed by Allah and all that Allah wishes for to happen to them). And Allah knows best.
