I would like to know about the rulings on taking favors from others to get your work done.
Basically, if we look at this as being bribery, the basic ruling in Islam is that the one who gives the bribe and the one who receives the bribe are cursed. This is a sin. However, the exception is that if you have to bribe to get your right, scholars hold that it is permissible. For you to give him the money, he carries the sin and you do not because the essence of the evil of bribery is that when you pay money, you are getting a right which was not yours. But if you are paying money to get what is yours, then the evil is on those who are requiring you to pay when you should not be paying.< Back to Questions
