Hadeeth Definition

“Among the hadeeth scholars the term hadeeth means ‘whatever is transmitted from the Prophet of his actions, sayings, tacit approvals, or physical characteristics. Scholars of Islamic Law do not include the physical appearance of the Prophet in their definition.”

What does scholars of Islamic law here refer to? Is “physical characteristic” and “physical appearance” different here or referring to the same thing?

It refers to scholars of fiqh, the faqeeh. Yes, it refers to the same thing.
