Pg. 60 text book: Conditions for validating salam. First: The sold item...definite properties. Thereupon, salam is not valid in items whose properties may change, such as pulses, leather, utensils and jewels.
Question: I am not clear on the examples given and what is meant by definite properties. What is meant by "pulses"?
The phrase in the original Arabic textbook is :
صفات السلعة المسلم فيه انضباط
which has been translated as "definite properties". This could be also rendered as the exactness of the properties/qualities of the goods that are to be used in the salaam transcation.
بقول have been translated as "pulses" and they are legumes/herbs/vegetables.< Back to Questions
