Kindly clarify the authenticity of the story attributed to Ali (رضى الله عنه) having said that his emaan would not increase if jannah or jahannum would be shown to him.
Imam ibn Al Qayyem said in his book Madarij Al salikyyin: (Aamer bin Adul Qays said :[if the veil is lifted off me I would not increase in certainty (yaqeen)]). This is not from the words of the Prophet (ﷺ), neither from the sayings of Ali (رضى الله عنه) as some who have no knowledge with narrations would assume.
Aamer bin Qays is great taaba’ee, he took directly from the Umar and Salmaan Al Faresee (رضى الله عنهما).
His students: Al Hassan Al Basree and Ibn Sireen. He was a great (aabid) worshiper.< Back to Questions
