What is meant by allegorical?
If the term allegorical isn’t clear, take it as meaning non-literal. If I say, give me your hand, literal meaning would be chopping of a hand and giving it to me. So we do use this terminology often, that not the majority of conversation, every instruction majority of the time we speak. If a boss tells his secretary, “write the letter,” she does not understand it to mean, ‘does he mean tell somebody or something else’. Write the letter means, write the letter. That is how we speak. So the way of the first generation is to take what Allah said as He said, not to explain it away allegorically, unless the literal meaning did not make sense like ’give me a hand.’< Back to Questions
