Sometimes we can’t seem to get negative thoughts out of our heads. In this case, it’s important to just take positive actions in spite of your thoughts. Positive actions will show your mind who is boss! They will make you feel better because you did something rather than just wallowing in the negative thinking. Positive actions involve taking baby steps to achieve a goal, consulting with another person for ideas, or just exercising.
Every Muslim does not need to become an Islamic scholar, but we should regularly seek Islamic knowledge. The best deeds are those done regularly, even if they are small. The Prophet was asked, “What deeds are loved most by Allah?” He said, “The most regular constant deeds even though they may be few.”
Fasting involves controlling what we say and do, along with our stomachs. It is normal to feel irritable or down when fasting for biological reasons. Being aware of these feelings will help us control ourselves. Self awareness is important for psychological well-being because it prevents us from acting in ways that we may regret. Self-control is a trait of mature and emotionally healthy people.
You will be a happier person if you can avoid toxic family members and set boundaries. Setting boundaries is not easy; it means saying “no” and limiting contact. Just because people are related to you does not give them the right to be hurtful and dishonest. Family members are supposed to love and support one another.
