I was in the Prophet Muhammad's (ﷺ) mosque and a man was just saying 'La ilaha illa Allah' hundreds of times. I asked someone about it. They said he is Shi'a and it is Bid'ah.
Well, I don’t know about Shi'a or not. But saying 'La ilaaha illa Allah' many times - hundreds or thousands of times is okay. It is permissible. If whilst you are saying it, you are moving your head and you are swinging and you are swaying and you are doing all these other things, now you are entering into areas of Bid'ah. But just to repeat it, there is nothing wrong. Allah says: '...Remember Allah often...’ He didn't put any number on it.
