People are more lenient when it comes to back-biting because in its nature its easy to indulge with and does not cause hardship to act upon it, all it needs is a move of a tongue, especially if the one being back-bitten was an enemy to those who are in the gathering, because they will be busy mentioning his or her flaws and become delighted with what they hear from defects about him or her in the same way a thirsty person is delighted with cold water to extinguish the heat inside of them, but in reality it is the retaliation from a helpless person, a weapon in the hands of a coward, because backbiters are always defeated when they know that the one they backbite is present, they would turn their slur into praise!
What could be better than being a true slave of Allah? One whom Allah loves and forgives? Our goal in this life is to embody the characteristics of the people of Paradise and become true believers, and as the Noble Qur'an is our ultimate source of guidance; we must extract the invaluable lessons from it and take heed of Allah's reminders.
One of my favorite quotes is by Barbara J. Winter: “When you come to the end of all the light you know, and it’s time to step into the darkness of the unknown, faith is knowing that one of two things shall happen: You will either be given something solid to stand on or you will be taught to fly.”
Remember, our dua’s do not go waste. Scholars have pointed out that when Muslims make dua’, it is heard and accepted but this acceptance, however, can be in a number of different ways. “Either Allaah will respond and fulfil the desire of the person who made the dua’, or He will ward off some evil from him because of the dua’, or He will make something good easy for him to attain because of it, or He will save it with Him for him on the Day of Resurrection when he will be most in need of it.
