Seeing that we are exposed to disturbing scenes every time we check the news, we have almost become desensitized to it. It is our duty to help those who are facing oppression, and they too expect our support, hence, we must not let them down. To give with all your might would be a gift for them, and a great reward for you from The One who does not forget!
Youth is the best time for striving to become like the young companions (RA) who had glowing Islamic identity and lived Islam practically in every aspect of their lives. They were engaged productively by a great model, mentor, leader and brother-in-Islam; Prophet Muhammad SAW.
We learn many things from the people we encounter. The professionals, the experienced, the highly educated, but did it ever occur to you that much wisdom can be extracted when conversing with an elderly? No doubt, we come across countless people throughout our lives, only to learn innumerable precious lessons from them; lessons that have the potential to change our lives forever!
I appreciated this verse in Ramadan, 2013. I was involved a car accident as we returned from the Mosque. SubhanAllah, our car was completely destroyed, but all of us miraculously survived. Profoundly, an ambulance was driving past as we emerged out of the car, terrified, but grateful.
Spiritual reminders can be found in every corner and every horizon, if only we train our hearts to think deeply and reflect. The jewels that All-Mighty Allah placed in the world around us will not manifest to every bystander, but to those who take a moment to observe and contemplate. Let's learn to pause, introspect and reflect with our HEARTS!
